WHERE WE CAME FROM
The idea came about when a group of friends – including chef Tom Kerridge and Chris Hughes from Brand Events – were discussing their love of classic food and films in a pub in Marlow. With a beautiful venue – the Old Town Hall – sitting empty in the town, the Pop-Up Picture House was born. The response was overwhelming; with tickets selling out in minutes and unanimously positive feedback from food and film lovers alike, the Pop-Up Picture House was a resounding success.
WHAT WE’RE DOING
The combination of classic food and classic films was clearly something the public were hungry for, and so the natural step was to create the Pop-Up Picture Company and bring this winning formula to stunning locations. First up was Rick Stein’s Sunset Cinema, which took place at Cliveden House and Chewton Glen this summer for a series of summer sizzlers, recent releases and old favourites accompanied by a menu curated by Rick Stein – seasonal fish dishes with an Asian twist were aplenty!
As for the rest of the year, we can’t say too much just yet – but we’re thinking big. Further Pop-Ups with other well-known and loved chefs, and of course, another festive run (or two) of classic films are all in discussion. The programme will be announced very soon, so watch this space and make sure you sign up to our e-newsletter and join us on social.
I’m really looking forward to providing some great food to go with movies I love for the Pop-Up Picture Company summer evenings at Cliveden House and Chewton Glen. The first courses will all be light seafood salads but the mains will be some of the simpler but heartier dishes from The Seafood Restaurant, designed to enhance your enjoyment of some terrific movies.
